| Living
in the spotlight in Rome.
In his popular movie “La Dolce Vita”
director Federico Fellini pictured the fancy, turbulent and unconventional
lifestyle of a certain kind of upper society of Rome
in early ‘60. Marcello Matroianni plays a gossip journalist
that for several reasons gets involved with this hidden world, a
different Rome from the calm yet moralistic one
visible during daylight. A huge part of the scenes is set during
the night and everything in the movie happens in wonderful Via Veneto
area. Close to one of the nicest park in the whole city, Villa
Borghese, today this area is still a symbol of extreme
luxury. The most amazing top rated Rome hotels are located in this
area chosen for their staying in the Eternal City
by international celebrities, business men and rich people in general
from all over the world.
Served by metro at Piazza Barberini, which is the closest station
for Fontana
di Trevi (the famous one of the bath scene in Fellini’s
movie), next to historical city centre busy streets but at the same
time not one of those, Via Veneto is the ultimate
place to look for an accommodation
in Rome, especially if you’re used to ask for
the best and get the finest things. But 5 and 4
stars hotels are not the only solutions: guest
houses and standard hotels are also available, for
the ones who wants to enjoy the charm of luxury with moderation.
One of the most beautiful street of the City, Via Veneto is at a
few steps from Trinità dei Monti, the basilica at the top
of the famous Spanish
steps, leading to Piazza di Spagna. The presidential
Palace, the Quirinale, is also at walking distance, and walking
here is nothing but a pleasure: going in Via Veneto and the narrow
lateral streets taking down to the fashion boutiques area, it’s
easy to feel surrounded by an absolutely international atmosphere
and a sort of theatre district feeling. Plenty of cinemas
and theatres gives to the evenings a magic touch: people crowds
together waiting for the show or the movie to start or just after
the end of it, chatting on the streets where bars and restaurants
stay open until late just to wait for them to come and enjoy and
after show dinner. |
