Not
only beautiful pictures.
Rome is beautiful. There’s no doubt about
it. As a tourist you would never stop to go sightseeing: there are
so many things catching your eyes at almost every corner. As a tourist
you would have to choose a few things to fit into you short staying
to enjoy Rome the best way possible. As a tourist
you would feel almost obliged to see all the museums and the historical
monuments and you would end up running from the Colosseum
to the Vatican
on your last day in the Eternal city.
As tourists all over the world we often forget to be human and for
a week or two we choose to actually become just a tourist, a picture
making and memories creating machine. And if you’re visiting
Rome this is even more true. But you know what? There’s
people living in Rome too. They are not here to
visit, and even if they all appreciate the wonderful sights, these
are not their main concern while they are walking down the streets.
I’m one of those. Romans live here just as you live in your
cities, even if not exactly like you, because every different country
has its own peculiar way of living. We work here, we study here,
we have fun in here, we play sports, we dine out, we go to the movies,
to the theatre in here…and during summer we go to the beach
too!
So if you’re in Rome for a while, if you’re
coming here to study or to work or even if you want to be a different
kind of tourist, one who likes to do what local people usually do…well,
this section has been thought exactly for you. In these pages we’ll
talk about how to live your everyday life while in Rome. So it’s
not going to be about Rome
airports, Rome
hotels or guided tours. It’s going to be about
where to go for the best jogging or in which pub you would find
the best live concerts; It’s going to be about the hidden
and truly genuine restaurants
or about where you should look for your Rome
apartment (depending on your needs and on how much
you can afford to spend!); It’s going to be about where to
find a typical and convenient food market or where to take your
children or your partner for a walk in the park.
You will also find useful and more practical information on how
to get health assistance and what formalities you have to attend
to work here or to stay here for a long period.
