Running in the park.
Footing, jogging and running are very popular activities for those
Romans who like to stay fit in the most natural way. Even if would
be nice to think about running around the beautiful monuments of
the urban centre of Rome, the busy streets and
a consistently high grade of pollution in some areas make the parks
look much more appealing and suitable for this kind of activities.
Still you don’t have to give up the hope of running out directly
from the door of the centrally located apartment
in Rome you just rented with your sneakers and your sweater
already on. In fact we have several small parks spread in the whole
city and they are the perfect solutions for a short length exercise
session. For sure you will find one of these local area parks very
close to your accommodation
in Rome, so that you won’t have to move by car
or by public transports to get to the large ones: this will make
you save precious time, especially if you are willing to do it on
a daily basis.
But if you’ve got some free time to spend for yourself and
your body or if you actually live close to them, the five popular
“ville” of Rome will be the ultimate place
to be. They once were gardens of some beautiful private aristocratic
houses (“villa” in Italian indicates a huge house),
that’s why they are nothing like a simple park and some of
them still keep its ancient fancy feeling. Now they are the top
rated destinations for a walk with the family or for a romantic
afternoon, but most of all, as we were saying, they offer the best
view ever for any runner. Here you will find special tracks for
runners and bikers and some facilities for aerobic exercises. It’s
easy to imagine that Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest days,
as well as early mornings during the work week.
- Villa
Borghese, the most centrally located one, is at walking distance
from Via Veneto, the famous Dolce Vita area. here you will be able
to run at th side of some museums, a zoo, an aviary and a lake with
dukes and rental boat.
-Villa Pamphili, located on the top of Janiculm hill (one of the
popular seven hills on which ancient Roma was founded) is the city's
largest park famous for its beautiful pines.
