This is Trastevere
area. The name comes from trans Tiberim meaning "across
the Tevere".
It is a fashionable place to live and is always very busy on weekends
and during summer, when tourists and Romans alike flock here to
eat in the many trattorie or drink at the numerous bars.
Places to eat
Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere is the heart of Trastevere
and a popular neighbourhood meeting place. You'll enjoy not only
a great view but also the passing people traffic.
Orto Botanico (Rome's botanical garden)has some of the rarest
plants in Europe.
