The Palazzo delle Esposizioni, a massive white edifice with
triumphal arch and ground Corinthian columns. After years of restoration
it was relaunched in 1990, and is today a vibrant multimedia centre.
There is a changing program of art exhibitions, live performances
and cinema, with many films screened in their original language.
There is also an excellent book and gift shop and a café.
Off Via Torino in Piazza Beniamino Gigli, is Rome's opera house,
the Teatro dell'Opera. The Fascist-era exterior hides a richly
decorated 19th century interior of plush red velvet seats, gilded
stucco and glittering chandelier in the centre of auditorium. |
