Dating back to 1467, Hotel del Sole al Pantheon is the oldest in Rome (Italy), and has the blessing of holding a prime location: looking across the ancient Piazza della Rotonda to one of Rome’s masterpieces, the Pantheon, which was standing before the birth of Christ. In the beginning there was the “Locanda del Montone”. And then came the “Sole”. And so the Albergo del Sole, one of the oldest hotels in the world, was born. A hotel as old as the famous piazza it overlooks.
Travellers like the poet Ariosto who entrusted his memories to the magic of his poetry, the philosopher Jean Paul Sartre who was a frequent guest along with Simone de Beauvoir or Friederick Nietzsche.
Hotel del Sole al Pantheon has been meticulously restored, faithfully reflecting its 15th century heritage. The bedrooms are each individual in decor but similar in mood, with colour-coordinated bedspreads and draperies. The hotel offers 23 rooms with one king size bed or twin beds, 4 junior suites and 5 suites. These five suites, located in an adjacent building, are very spacious and sleep 3-4 guests and for this reason they are particularly suitable for families. Four suites have a frontal view of the square. All the rooms feature private Jacuzzi tub, hairdryer, satellite TV, AM/FM radio, mini bar, air conditioning, direct dial-phone and safety box. All the rooms overlooking the square enjoy a stunning panorama of the Pantheon and its beautiful fountain.
