Mecenate Palace Hotel Rome
Hotel Mecenate Palace, named after ancient Rome’s most important patron of the arts, who lived at this location just over 2,000 years ago, this classy accommodation is situated on top of the Esquiline, one of the highest of Rome’s famous seven hills, just a step away from the Forum, Colosseum and Opera House. From the rooftop terrace there’s a marvelous view of the bell tower of Santa Maria Maggiore. The rooms are in two adjacent buildings that have been lovingly renovated to their original fin de siècle splendor. They are tastefully decorated, and the suites are furnished with 19th-century antiques.
All rooms, decorated in the refined style of the last century, feature direct-dial telephone, satellite TV in English, French, Spanish and German, frigobar, in-room safe, electric kettle for tea and coffee making, fax and computer connections. The three suites are luxuriously furnished with authentic XIXth century antiques. Suites feature fireplace parlours and superb bathrooms clad in pink Portuguese or yellow Siena marble. For the ultimate in luxury, all bathrooms are marbleclad with particular attention to lighting.

The area is lively and close to transportation, surrounded by lots of eateries of all sorts and shops. You can walk to the Forum and Colosseum and many other sights. It is well connected with the most important museums and monuments in town.
Roman forum, Dioclecian baths, Colosseum, Opera theatre and Spain Square, famed for shopping, are several places of interest within a very short walking distance from the Mecenate Palace. There are various transport connections from the hotel to some of the city’s most strategic areas: one can reach the Borghese Gallery, St Peter or Vatican Museums very quickly by using subway.
Through the nearby Termini Railway Station, fast links with the Airport.

Mecenate hotel is located 5 minutes away from the termini station and opposite Santa Maria Maggiore. The colosseum is about 15 minutes walk away and the metro is based at the station. We had a twin room which was extremely spacious, clean and warm. The breakfast was continental but plenty.
